The 14th Century Decani Monastery, outside of Pec, Kosovo, founded in 1327, is at the heart of the political war zone between Serbia and Kosovo. According to the monks, founder Tsar Stefan Decanski's body, buried there, is still not decayed, which is the hallmark of a saint. The Serbian Orthodox monastery, protected by UNESCO and heavily guarded around the clock by KFOR forces, is famous for its magnificent and nearly completely preserved frescoes from 1350. Here the resident monks take a break for an impromptu soccer game with a visiting Brazilian tourist. The monks claim they often play against, and beat, the Italian soldiers stationed there who protect the Serbian enclave and it's visitors from hostile Kosovar neighbors.
